Rite in the Rain Journal

A Rainproof Travel Journal: $10

Travel journals are great for taking notes, drawing maps, sketching scenery he sees, or logging the beer he drinks.  Well this one he can even use in the rain.  With 64 waterproof pages, he’ll be able to fill it up with memories of his next adventure. This is a great size, but you could also check out the smaller top spiral 3-pack for only a few dollars more.

The Only Pocket Knife He’ll Ever Need

Swiss Army Classic Red Pocket Knife: $13

Remind him of his youth by stuffing this classic red Swiss Army Knife in his stocking this year.  For only $13, this knife fits easily in his pocket or on his keychain. Just remind him to leave it at home before air travel or to put it in his checked luggage.

The Adventurer’s Deck of Cards

Campfire Survival Travel Playing Cards: $15

Most people already have a set of playing cards, but probably not a deck that could save their lifeThis deck of cards from Gentlemen’s Hardware has beautiful illustrations with survival tips and facts. Like how to tie certain kinds of knots, or how to start a camp fire. It comes in a tin carrying case for easy packing whether camping or traveling.  I also liked Gentlemen’s Hardware Pliers Multi-tool and Outdoor Survival Tool Kit.

Navigate like a Pro with The #1 Compass on Amazon

Eyeskey Aluminum Alloy Compass: $23

Do you know a hunter, hiker or camper? This multifunctional compass will make a great gift for him.  This is not a cheap plastic compass.  This is made from professional grade, durable aluminum alloy like those used in the military.  Encourage him to start planning his next backpacking adventure by stuffing one of these in his stocking this holiday season.

Stainless Steel Insulated Coffee Mug

YETI’s 14 oz Rambler: $25

Any adventurer would drool over this vacuum insulated YETI mug.  Maybe he just finished a long day on the slopes, or woke up early with the sun while camping.  This mug will keep his coffee hot and energy going so that he can keep exploring.  Yes, it does come with a lid.  Who else needs some caffeine?

A Print Magazine Subscription

National Geographic: $25/year

You are probably familiar with this print magazine as a source for cut-out paper collages you made back in the day. Or maybe you follow National Geographic on Instagram.  But this is one of the most visually stunning and interesting print magazines you could get your hands on.  Give this as a gift to inspire his travels or creativity throughout the whole year.  Your first issue should arrive within 6-10 weeks.  He can tuck it away in his carry-on for some leisure reading on his next adventure.

A Digital Subscription

Music or Audio Books, it’s all on Amazon:

If he prefers to pack light, why not gift him a digital subscription like Audible or Prime Music?  These two subscriptions make the Adventure Gift Guide for Him because they add no weight to his bags! He can listen to the new best-selling books or enjoy ad-free unlimited music available through Amazon. Try Audible through this link and get two audiobooks for free. Or subscribe him to Prime Music and only pay $3 for a 30-day-trial.

The Most Packable Winter Jacket

Patagonia’s Nano Puff Jacket for Men: $199

I always spoil my husband’s gifts.  Whether it’s his birthday, our anniversary, Christmas, or you name it–I spoil it.  I was happy to spoil his Christmas gift this year about 25 days early by picking up this Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket in black before our trip to New York City.  My husband is an airline pilot and so as you might expect, he travels a lot for work.  He has to wear a heavy leather coat while in uniform, but would prefer not to wear it when he explores on his overnights.  I was so excited to get this jacket for him this year as it provides the perfect warmth for active men. But the reason I bought it was because it packs so well.

This jacket stuffs right into its own zippered internal pocket.  Whether he’s going to or from someplace cold, he’ll want this jacket with him. If you’re not a fan of this price point, check out some of these other options I reviewed.  I picked it up in person at REI because I like to take advantage of their membership perks, but it’s also available on Amazon. My husband is 6 feet tall, 175 lbs and the Medium fits him perfectly.  We were worried about the sleeve length since he has long arms, but they were the right length. A very practical product on this Adventure Gift Guide for Him.

The Most Innovative Leather Portfolio

Satchel & Page’s Port 11″: $295

This portfolio boasts heirloom quality leather and a lifetime warranty. Stachel & Page boomed into the men’s fashion scene after a wildly successful Kickstarter Campaign.  They craft timeless pieces for a fair and honest price. This beautiful 11″ Portfolio is perfect for the adventurer.  It comes with an adjustable leather shoulder strap, modular outside pocket, and Venture Insert.  It’s small enough to fit inside his backpack or carryon, and will solve all his organizational quandaries.  At $295, this is definitely the most expensive of the list, but also a gift that will last a lifetime.  How could we not add this to our Adventure Gift Guide for Him?
