There is no doubt 2020 has been a helluva year. So why not start a new business? Last week this website evolved from hobby blog to We Adventure Well LLC–a fully insured Twin Cities Airstream Rental business based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
We are pleased to partner with Outdoorsy to make this brand new 2021 Airstream Bambi 19CB available for you to reserve for your next adventure! What’s Outdoorsy, you ask? Outdoorsy is basically the Airbnb of RVs, where owners rent their campers for others to enjoy. We are the ONLY Twin Cities Airstream Rental in the central location of Minneapolis!
Day Dreams of Alternative Uses for an RV
After reading this USA Today article in early June about a man buying an Airstream to use as his home office, I started to consider how RVs can be used for so much more than an occasional weekend trip. Sure RVs can be used for personal vacation, but they also have potential for a home office, a future additional dwelling unit (ADU), an Airbnb-able structure to plop down a piece of land someday, a safe space to offer temporarily for someone who needs short-term housing or finds themselves in a housing crisis, a place of seclusion for an essential worker, and the list goes on.
CNBC interviewed Airstream’s CEO, Bob Martin, who said the public is also seeing the benefits of traveling by RV in the midst of this pandemic. And he’s not wrong–RVing is a great way to isolate and vacate with your household–like this couple did in California.
These reasons were enough to pique my interest and become engrossed in the Airstream YouTube niches you’ll find out there. Patrick Botticelli is now a household name and my 5 year old can list off Airstream specs like you wouldn’t believe. It didn’t take long to convince us that (a) we wanted one, and (b) we wanted to make it profitable. We began to scour the country to find a 19 foot Airstream and do you know what?
You can’t find one.
Airstreams are Sold Out
That’s right, Airstreams are being sold before they even make it on a lot. Aljezeera reported on the surge in US RV sales as recently as two weeks ago. And we could not find an available Twin Cities Airstream Rental anywhere. However, we were not dismayed.
We called the only Minnesota Airstream dealer–LazyDays RV–in Ramsey, MN. We made the drive to check out the inventory on their lot and walked through a Flying Cloud 23 and peeked inside an already sold 16 or 19 ft Caravel? I can’t remember anymore.
After we got inside the iconic silver travel trailer, that really sealed the deal for us–more on this later. After scouring RVtrader looking for some potential sweet deal on pre-owned private sale, we realized it was going to be much easier going through a dealer. But like I said… LazyDays didn’t have any in our desired length (read: desired price), and neither did Wisconsin, Iowa, New Jersey, Florida, Alabama… you get the idea.
But then this happened…
It was only a few days after hitting another dead end with RV One in Des Moines, Iowa that I received a call back from them. “We just got a brand new 2021 Bambi 19CB at our dealer in Florida–do you want me to transfer it here to Iowa for you?” Yes!
It was only a week or so until the trailer was in Iowa and we got to go pick it up this past Saturday. In the mean time, I’ve been full speed ahead, working on turning this blog into an actual business–the first Twin Cities Airstream Rental located in Minneapolis.
We are so excited to share this trailer with you via our new Twin Cities Airstream Rental business. We are implementing the highest standard of cleanliness and disinfecting methods required by Outdoorsy, based on CDC guidelines.
Take a peek at the trailer! And be sure to sign up for our newsletter as we are going to be sending out some exclusive coupon codes and running a couple of give-aways in the next couple weeks!
